KLANG: The Tourism Ministry is looking into new ways to develop tourism products in Klang in a move to attract more tourists to the royal town.

Its minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said the ministry had directed state tourism department officers to update the information on the products available in the district.

The areas being explored include the heritage trail in the state, promotions on the uniqueness of the Sultanate of Selangor and organising tourism programmes.

“We are looking at organising a mega familiarisation tour for foreign journalists to see for themselves what we have to offer,” she said Thursday after visiting the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery here.

Azalina said one of the main attractions in Klang was the royal gallery, which offered a look into the history and heritage of the Selangor sultanate and the late Sultan of Selangor Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah.

She said the gallery, at the 99-year-old Sultan Suleiman building that had received recognition as one of the world’s most significant architectures, would be an interesting place for foreign tourists to visit.

She said however more efforts like introducing better tourism packages were needed to bring tourists here.

She added that the state tourism department was also told to carry out educational tours for students in the state to create better understanding and appreciation for local history among the people here.

This came in our newspaper. Danger? They say that it is not!

Attack is the best defence... against dengue, which affects 50 million worldwide yearly. The authorities believe the war can be won by attacking the carrier, the Aedes mosquito. The plan to unleash genetically modified mosquitoes on Pulau Ketam, however, has raised fears of monster mosquitoes wreaking havoc worse than dengue. Experts explain the plan to JUNE RAMLI and ANNIE FREEDA CRUEZ THE best way to prevent dengue is to prevent mosquito bites. And that means keeping the Aedes mosquito at bay.

Discuss it here -> Biotech War to combat Aedes, Yes/No?.

When I was searching over the news about Klang road congestion problem. I found this news. 18 months is quite a long time.

Excerpt from theStar.com.my

KLANG motorists will have to bear with massive traffic jams for the next 18 months as a 600m stretch of a major road in the royal town is being closed to facilitate upgrading work.

The project involving a section of the major road leading into the town centre is to ease major traffic congestion.

According to Sungai Penang state assemblyman and State Assembly Speaker Teng Chang Khim, the closure involves the stretch from Persiaran Sultan Ibrahim (near RHB Bank) to the Kota Bridge (near Mydin). Cause of traffic congestion: Road works being carried out near the Kota Bridge in Klang.
