Windows XP Black Screen every 60 minutes?
If you ever face this problem.. This means that your Windows XP has failed the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) test.

Check these out:-
Update to WGA Notifications for Windows XP Professional
... The desktop background can be reset to anything else in the usual ways, but every 60 minutes it will change back to the plain black background. This will continue to happen until that copy of Windows is genuine...

Windows Genuine Advantage - Microsoft Malaysia
... We are making changes to WGA Notifications in Windows XP to make the experience similar to the Notifications experience in Windows Vista Service Pack 1. The release will only affect Windows XP Professional users. Users who are notified that their copy of Windows XP may not be genuine will receive notifications prompting them to validate it. If a user fails to validate Windows XP after 30 days, the desktop will revert to a plain black background after 60 minutes. Additional notifications prompting the user to validate Windows XP will be given....

Latest WGA for Windows XP Professional cause Wallpaper and Background Auto Reset to Black Screen Every 60 Minutes
... After installing this new version of WGA Notifications on a copy of Windows XP that fails the validation, most users will discover on their next logon that their desktop has changed to a plain black background from whatever was there previously....
