RE: What to do with TPTPN Black list?
hi pssk2002,
a warm welcome to the myklang forum.

something is not right. Did you surrender your passport when applying for PTPTN loan? If not, how could they stop you from getting your passport? Based on the Federal Constitution, no one including the police (except with court orders) can take away your IC or passport. You should not surrender your IC or passport to anyone at any time.

As long as you are a Malaysian citizen, you have the right to get a Malaysian passport, although the passport is ultimately owned by Kerajaan Malaysia and can be taken away if necessary.

If i can remember correctly, PTPTN loan defaulters may be banned from travelling overseas. Blacklisted names will be given to the Immigration officers at the country's borders. But they CANNOT detain your passport, or deny your rights to apply for a passport. They can only stop you from leaving the country.

If you have problems in applying for a Malaysian passport, I will suggest you to talk to the Immigration Dept for clarification. I don't think it has anything to do with PTPTN.

Yeah I don't think they really can restrain you from applying a passport.

Some of my colleagues, who have just graduated, are holding their own passport now. Most of them still owe PTPTN money and are still paying back them slowly. Once you are paying them back, you won't be stopped from leaving the country. With lower interest rate now, I guess most of them are taking their own sweet time to pay it off. G-combat-hat-walk

RE: What to do with TPTPN Black list?
hi pssk2002,
maybe what you can do is to contact Jabatan Imigresen first. Ask them if you can travel to overseas or not with your passport. If not, ask them why. At least get the confirmation that it is due to PTPTN's blacklist.

Once confirmed, contact PTPTN and tell them that you want to re-negotiate on the loan repayment terms. Like RM50 per month or something to remove your name from the blacklist name.

Take note that it is your responsibility to approach PTPTN to resolve this matter. Do not wait for the court warrant to be issued against you. Good luck.

RE: What to do with TPTPN Black list?
Hi Thundercats, thanks for your advice. I already called PTPTN and they mentioned i cant go oversea. I told them i can repay as much as possible monthly since i do not work for few years already and hope the release me from the blacklist. But they still forced me to pay 100% outstanding or I can't go oversea at all. I approved a few personnel and answers are the same. So helpless!G-mad-1
