But the young woman -- a well-known socialite in Jakarta -- said her life at the royal palace involved a "daily routine" of rape, abuse, torture and occasional drug injections that made her vomit blood.

She said she was usually held under guard in her bedroom at the palace and was injected with tranquilisers whenever she complained.

"I am still traumatised by all that happened and it has left an impact on me," she told reporters in Jakarta on Sunday, after escaping the royal family during a trip to Singapore over the weekend.

"Sexual abuse and sexual harassment were like a daily routine for me, and he did that every time I did not want to have sexual intercourse," she was quoted as saying in The Jakarta Globe.

PETALING JAYA: The case between Kelantan prince Tengku Mohamad Fakhry Sultan Ismail Petra and his wife Manohara Odelia Pinot is a personal matter, the Kelantan palace said.

Manohara, a former model, who claimed she was ill-treated, has fled to her home country Indonesia.

The palace said in a statement that it was monitoring the developments, including the allegations made by Manohara.

“We are viewing the matter as a personal crisis between a husband and his wife which must be settled through the law,” said the statement signed by the palace coordinator Datuk Abdul Halim Hamad on Wednesday.

He said he had been directed to clarify that statements made by Mohd Soberi Shafii, a friend of Tengku Fakhry, were his (Mohd Soberi’s) personal view and not an official stand of the palace.

Mohd Soberi had been quoted in several local and Indonesian media as denying all the allegations made by the 17-year-old Manohara.

He had urged Manohara to submit to medical examinations in “neutral” countries such as in Australia, Singapore or London to support her claims.

Manohara on Sunday alleged that she was treated inhumanely by her husband.

The case received wide coverage in Malaysia and Indonesia since Manohara made the allegations at a press conference in Jakarta on Sunday, claiming that she had escaped from a hotel in Singapore with the help of the police and the American Embassy.

She was in Singapore with her husband to visit the Sultan of Kelantan who was undergoing treatment at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital.

Manohara’s mother Daisy Fajarina, who has appeared on TV gossip shows in Indonesia, claimed that her daughter had been kidnapped and abused since her marriage to Tengku Fakhry last August.

Mohd Soberi had also denied Manohara’s claim that she “escaped” from the hotel, saying that she left voluntarily following a discussion between her mother and palace officials.
