Shutdown of fish spa in Singapore and US
Quoted from this blog Pink Elle Reviews:-

Quote:.... The Spa Association Singapore has said that banning fish-spa treatments such as Kenko Reflexology & Fish Spa and Qian Hu Fish Farm is the way to go and it did not encourage its members here to provide the service for safety and hygiene reasons.

More reputable members use filtration systems and ultraviolet light to kill bacteria in the water and also check that their customers are clear of wounds.

At least two complaints have emerged this year against fish spas - the Consumers Association of Singapore received one, and The New Paper ran a report on two sisters who caught fungal infections from a fish spa. (source)

On the other side of the globe, this treatment of letting live fish give people pedicures is now banned in Washington and Texas.

Ms Christine Anthony, spokesman for the Washington Department of Licensing, said it was impossible to sanitise live fish. ‘You can clean the tank, you can clean the water, but there’s no guarantee that the fish aren’t carrying something from the previous customer,’ she was quoted as saying by Seattle Times.

Officials also said the foot baths and holding tanks, because they are home to live fish, cannot always be properly cleaned and disinfected.
....

I've personally have not tried it yet. What do you think? Any doctors in the house?

There were some truth in the spokewoman's explanations........the barber changes the shaving blades, the prostitutes normally insists on condoms but the fishes DO NOT brush their teeth !!!

If a dog bites you, you might get rabies.
If mosquitoes bite you, you might get dengue or malaria.
So how if many fishes bite you? Is it not the same?
Chances are there.

I don't really buy this fish spa concept anyway.

RE: Shutdown of fish spa in Singapore and US
If u want to try a fish spa but scared, then u can do this...
In my secondary school days when my dad used to rear fish (a s****d hobby on discuss and arowa), I used to have guppies. Now, guppies are cheap and bread easily.
So what I used to do is to freeze blood worms in the freezer into mini bites. So when I feed the fish, I submerge my hand into the water with the blood worm. After 1 - 2 week, these guppies will come towards ur hand.. sometimes they may even nibbles on you... but it's ok... when I tried the spa.. it's just the same feeling...

hehehehe... but don't blame me if they die when u put ur feet in.
