RE: Perth Australia
some handy tips.... dont go perth during nov - march.... its summer down under, i experienced 48 degrees celcius few years ago... its usually hot and dry... so not a good idea 2 visit perth that time... i usually go back 2 msia and travel up northern hemisphere to escape the heat!!!

i just came back from brisbane and gold coast last 2 weeks... basically its pretty different compare 2 other aussie cities... brisbane are bit boring as compare 2 perth (for me la). during day time its just the street mall shopping, while at night.. nothin much but just dine and wine or pub'in... dun ever drive in brisbane... crazy roads ... in the suburbs u can notice some road are around 45 degree in angle... getiing a taxi is not that expensive compare 2 perth.... some 15-20 minute ride can cost you around 30-40bucks...

while in gold coast...theres a few theme parks... if u try 2 visit all of them... get the super pass where u can visit 2-3 parks in few days... i would say movie world or dream world if u like rides... (very much smaller compare 2 universal studios or disneyland in california) oh n seaworld sucks!!!. at late night, dun be shock to see drunken angmohs all around suffers paradise... they are piss drunk and in mad behavior. u can hardly see asian during that time... just be careful.

RE: Perth Australia
Ah, i went to Scarborough Beach before too!!!! It was around February last year ('07)... Summer was so hot, but the beach was simply magnificent. I have never seen one as beautiful as Scarborough... maybe because I don't go to beaches often, but I guess for the rest of my life I won't ever forget this place.

RE: Perth Australia
hi isaac, everyone had practically give good places to go hehe... Then i'll just point out other choices...

If you are in Fremantle, there's basically a lot there and there's basically nothing there lol. The market is always interesting with lots of things to buy, and you'll get cheap bargain if you are cooking on your own (compare to buying from Coles etc).

And while you are at Fremantle, do walk across the park to Cicerello's. I'm not sure about the other restaurants, but by far, our favourite had always been there. They serve fresh seafood (fish and chips, calamari, mussels, seafood platter etc) and are really good. Trust me Wink

And at night, though you may say nothing much in Fremantle (or locals call it Freo) except for wine & dine, you may be wrong. There's a Fremantle prison torchlight tour... one of the block in the prison used to hold death row prisoners and they will show you the noose. Of course, there's also the female prison block etc... the torchlight tour is good. You're only given a torchlight throughout the session and a guide will bring your group along. To get there, you can walk from the market. For directions, just ask the locals.

If you have your mum or sisters or girlfriends along, then you cannot miss shopping. Yes, most of the things are expensive, but they have resonably prices items too. You can go to the City (Perth City) and there's a lot of shops to walk around.

Or, you can take the train from Fremantle till City West (I think). From there you can go to Harbour Town. That place is a shopping heaven... *dreamy*
K, they have Adidas, Converse, Nike, Just Jeans, Supre, Cotton On, JayJay's etc etc. Lots and lots and lots of boutiques. Basically 90% boutiques. But the best thing is that you get the designer items much cheaper than outside retail shops - to which I shop till I'm broke each time I'm there XD

Then, if you are an animal lover, Caversham is a MUST GO. Over there, you can feed the kangaroos, hold the wombat, feel the koala and get a camel's ride. Further along Caversham (within walking distance), there's a "hidden village" where there's specialty shops (eg. Candy shops, photo shops, antique shops etc). You can ride on the tram too ^___^ (nope, its not free).

Last but not least (i know i'm long winded...), you can visit Swan Valley - a vineyard. I was told that Margaret River is similar (but travelling down south has its advantage - there's other interesting things there). But if you think Margaret River is far, you can try Swan Valley - a one-day trip will do it. I think the ride is about...... 1 to 2 hours there. And oh, bring a map ^^; ... O'm not sure if there's any bus that will go there... but even if there is, I don't recommend. Best if you rent a car and drive down. SV is located somewhere further up the City (again, if my sense of direction is accurate).

In SV, you'll see a Chocolate Factory, Nougat Shop, lots of vineyards (with free wine and cheese tasting), a Cocktail shop (where you get the cheapest cheapest drinks... they costs about AUD$ 1-2 per drink, but each customer is limited to max 2 drinks only). And in the Cocktail shop, with a small fee you can visit the rum making factory.

Along the way you'll see a petting farm. It's nice there with a lot of cuddly animals.... mostly farm animals - rabbits, lambs, emu (scary!), donkeys etc. But since I'm a huge animal lover, I went in and hug and animals!!!

Smile RE: Perth Australia
Garo,

As the Australian always say..... No Worries...

As I wrote in my posts, if you read through again.... I did not visit to all those places Sad I plan to but I was too busy with my work during that trip. I will definately go visit all those mentioned places when I am going Perth again. After looking at those nice photos post by Erin, I really regret I did not visit them. I will visit next time no matter how busy it will be.

Cheers
