RE: Olympic Games in Beijing, China
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Lee Chong Wei was a national hero though he collected only a silver in the Olympic badminton men's singles final Sunday night.
He said Chong Wei's success in making his way up to the final made the country proud and fired up the spirit of all Malaysians. Meanwhile, Chong Wei's father Lee Ah Chai said: "I hope the people of Malaysia are not angry and disappointed because Chong Wei has tried his level best." Watching the match, he said, his son was clearly under pressure. "I am not disappointed because has made it to the final and done his best," he said to about 30 reporters and photographers who watched the match with the Lee family at their house in Cheras, KUALA LUMPUR. With the silver, the national shuttler will receive a RM300,000 incentive and RM3,000 monthly pension as announced by Najib who is chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Sports Development recently. LCW could have done better. But still they don't call Lin Dan the 'Super Dan' for nothing..
