No Plastic Bag Day
The no plastic bag day in Selangor and Penang is one of the smartest green effort a government has taken. Kudos to that.

It has been some time this campaign going on and I could clearly see that people are better aware of how using less one or two plastic bag a day could contribute to lesser non-biodegradable material in our garbage.

I sure hope that this campaign will be replicated to all other states and sooner or later becomes part of our every day lifestyle.

Cheers.

RE: No Plastic Bag Day
I like the idea of no plastic day on Saturday. Hopefully it can be extended to few days a week instead of only one. I would say a good move to educate the public and as you said people are more aware of it now, be they old or young.

Haha..it's actually an eye-opener that an aunty is more aware of it rather than a younger guy/girl. Tongue

Anyway, i think it's a good effort.. I'm starting to remember to bring... haha..or don't shop at all on Saturdays Tongue

RE: No Plastic Bag Day
Rather than providing the plastic bag at 20 cents a piece, they should provide paper bag, that way, it is bio-degradable.
I think the shopping centres are not used to handle this "no plastic day" thing. E.g. Jusco will go and tape your shopping bag with the Paid sticker.. :g-huh-01: LoL

I also saw that boxes were prepared for anyone who is buying in bulk. Good move there.
What we could do is, rather than waiting for Government to implement it to everyday, we could start doing it even now. Whenever you go shopping, just bring along your shopping bag.

RE: No Plastic Bag Day
I went to Bkt Tinggi Giant to shop last Saturday but I forgot to bring shopping bags. But during checkout the cashier didn't even mention about the no-plastic-bag day and just bagged everything for us. Is this "no-plastic-bag" an opt-in thing for supermarkets?

RE: No Plastic Bag Day
Now I see that Jusco (Bukit Raja anyway) is starting to use paper bags to bag up ppl's stuff on weekdays. Not sure about the other Jusco though. Tesco has also made another smart move to convince their patrons to use the recyclable bags instead of buying plastic bags. They give extra points if their customers opt to use the recyclable bags! So even on normals days when the the "no-plastic-bag" campaign is in the storeroom, customers will still think about bringing their own bags Smile
