Cool Klang Proton Waja [Support] Club
Waja has existed in the country since its introduction in Year 2000, it has gone through many improvement and what I would classify as "Matured" family car. What I think we should have in Klang is a fan club specially catered for Waja owners, be it new or old, or even ex-owners. All of your opinions are important and welcome.

Here are some facts about Proton Waja which I pulled out from Wikipedia:-
History
The Proton Waja is the first model designed in-house by Proton. The development of the Waja began at the end of the 1990s together with the Campro engine, however the development of the Campro engine was still in progress at the time of its launch and therefore Proton had to source the 4G18 engine for the Waja from Mitsubishi,[citation needed] before switching to Campro engines in 2006. It was launched in August 2000 together with the introduction of Proton's new corporate logo. Early batches of the Waja had some serious quality problems due to some component vendors and suppliers skipping quality checks to rush for the huge early demand.[citation needed] However, the quality of the components were strictly improved years later in 2005.[citation needed]

The Waja was facelifted twice since its debut in August 2000. The first minor facelift was in mid-2006 which only involved rear lights. The 2007 Proton Waja with a more substantial facelift was launched on January 19, 2007 together with the facelifted Proton Savvy. For the 2007 Waja, it was given a new grille which was nearly identical to the Savvy. The 2007 Waja also includes both ABS and air bag as standard for the Malaysian market, which were previously optional equipment. At the end of 2005, Proton additionally introduced another variant of the Waja, known as Proton Waja Chancellor, to be used by representatives of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) during the meeting of ASEAN leaders in the KLCC, shortly before its launch in 2006. The Waja Chancellor has a longer wheelbase and a 2.0 L V6 engine similar to that used in Proton Perdana V6, also sourced from Mitsubishi. By 2008, an updated Waja was launched with an improved Campro engine and a new center console with a new 2-DIN Clarion audio set.

Waja sales in the UK, where it is rebadged as the Impian, did not begin until April 2001, and it has continued virtually unchanged ever since. The Impian is only available with right hand drive while left hand drive models are available elsewhere in Europe as the Waja. Sales have not been strong,[citation needed] as it was behind the best of the competition at its launch and virtually all of its competitors have been replaced since. Its decent ride and handling, generous equipment levels, competitive asking price and comprehensive aftersales package are perhaps the only things that keep it going with British buyers.

Kimmy, are you one of the proud Waja owner?

Let's talk about what cons about Waja...

As far as I know, some parts are quite expensive. For instance, the power windows regulator, it will costs RM200-300 to change one.

RE: Klang Proton Waja Fan Club
i felt disgrace to own a proton. haha....because of proton we have to pay excise tax for import cars (you know that citi would be cheaper in cost and less fuel consumption).

Because of proton we pay maybe approximately 40k for an average japanese car each time we buy a car (we paid our petrol subsidies in advance??), but we pay RM2.70/liter for gas. I think we should calculate transportation cost / year and compare to other country. I bet malaysia will be pretty high comparing to nation with petrol and neighbouring coutries.

Because of proton I have this blog post
http://www.wahlau.net/2007/02/25/how-suck-is-proton/

Because of proton my post rank no.1 in Google the keyword "Proton Suck"

Because of proton I visit my mechanic to fix my door handle (actually last 2 week i just fixed it again), fix my window holder (it brakes after few years and you have 4 automatic windows), motor for the window also could break down, I think 2 led burnt on my dashboard (who had this? haha...I got no time, but milleage appears...too expensive to fix because labour to remove the dashboard)

Oh did I mention that sometimes my handbrake light appear together with the ABS but everything works like normal.

As conclusion, I would join proton sucking club rather than proton club.

I think mine is year 2002...fuel consumption is like RM0.18/km (b4 increase, 0.252/km after increase) interior is leather seat with a little wood panel (some exclusive model which is suppose to go to europe but fail to match EU requirement)

How about listing those that are broken at your proton?

Hmm.. how should we take it from here? Change the name?

My waja is the CPS engine and just 2 month old.. Looking at it, it is ok for now, except the way it handles the gear changes which I don't really like. By the way, it is an auto model. Fuel consumption is like RM0.20/KM before increase. Have not calculated with the new rate yet.

Nothing has fell out... yet.. Tongue

RE: Klang Proton Waja [Support] Club
In fact, before I concluded on proton, i've put it at the very very very bottom of my list. But, after scouting several units and models.. waja is still the most value for money... considering the space, price, new features and improvements, maturity of the car...

RE: Klang Proton Waja [Support] Club
yup..i could not agree more.....the price is still unbeatable for the size and the class of the car

all because of the excise tax we pay for imported car to protect them..

RE: Klang Proton Waja [Support] Club
One thing for sure is their services is too stringent and follows too many protocols..
*for example, if you send in your car on Saturday, you are not allowed to file complaint. I experience this is at their headquater recently* Tongue
