Kingston DT101/4GB is giving me problem...
Hi,

another tech related help needed. I got this pendrive and i need to reformat it..dun misunderstand.I KNOW HOW TO REFORMAT A FLASH DRIVE...

anyway, my problem is i tried reformatting it and the message prompted was " The disc is write protected" which is very very very weird coz i din even set that at the beginning. No physical switch for me to tweak also...so.....any ideas what i can do with this drive rather than just throwing it away?

RE: Kingston DT101/4GB is giving me problem...
does the DT101/4g of your have a software inside that comes with it that you could do some setting? or remember that you have deleted a setting file when u first got it?

usually flash drive comes with either 3 yrs or 5 yrs warranty. You could go back to the shop where u bought it and request them to help you out. if it' still under warranty then found the drive is faulty, can get a new one back with warranty exchange.

all the best o

With capacities up to 8GB, DataTraveler 101 is sleek and capless. Password-protect data with SecureTraveler** software, which allows you to create and access a password-protected, secure area of the drive called a “Privacy Zone.”

i think its password protected?

okay, what u can do is, send to amble action, which is distributor of kingston memory modules, their office is @ PJ uptown and in lowyat plaza where u can claim warranty. else find the receipt of it n go back to the shop, or buy a new one since thumbdrives nowadays is so cheap. you choice. Smile

RE: Kingston DT101/4GB is giving me problem...
hm...i'm not too sure, you could look at the website and give them a call if you could claim without receipt. They might have a way to check on the product ID of the item internally to determine the warranty of the item, not too sure in this but worth a phone call to check it out. all the best Smile
