pros
it is pretty small compare to dvd handycam
you could travel to high altitude (like mountain hiking)....I know that dvd have some problem writing at certain height...

cons
you tend to keep the video inside the handycam....need to get computer to burn them in disc to keep them.

RE: Hard Disk Drive Handycam
I am looking at the Sony one as they are doing promotion now. With The 30G can capture up to 7.5 hours with very good quality image.

Sony is a bit bulky compare to Panasonic.

RE: Hard Disk Drive Handycam
I'm using Sony Hardisk Camcorder with 60GB. I'm quite pleased with it. Handy and quite easy to use but the utility software is quite lacking, especially editing Also the default format is MP2 and not compatible with Microsoft Movie Maker.I've to convert it each time I wanna to edit my own movie. Price for 60GB I'm getting it at RM2700. Ah.. compare to DVD type, more convenient no need to change the DVD Smile

Dear dngcy2k,

1. With high quality, how long it can record?
2. You are converting into what format before editing?
3. Where you purchased it? How long ago?

RE: Hard Disk Drive Handycam
I owned a Sony HDD Handycam SR200 for about 1 year. Satisfy with it's perform so far. My 2 coins suggestion, pay a little bit more to get a model with ClearVid™ CMOS Sensor. You will not regret because it take good video at night if compare to those without.
