Durian King

This mark the end of our durian season 2008. The rainy season is here and i believed we all did in one way or another enjoyed the harvest of our ever best durians this year.

What is Durian King~???

Well, to some it's 'Ang Heh', 'Moh San Ko' or XO but to some of us here in MyKlang, we prefers those from the wild or normally referred to as 'Mountain Durians' or 'Sua Lulian' in hokkien. These Sua Lulian are found deep in our jungle or high up in the mountains. Normally orang asli and local jungle trackers are those few that have access to these lovely fruits. Some of those orang asli would 'sell' those Sua Lulian at their local street market for extra income...

And this is how a 'Kampung Durian' look like. Notice the different spike~??? Sua Lulian has tiny spike and are very close to each others.....










Beside the difference of those spike, the main 'factor' that separate both a kampung durian and a mountain durian is, YESsss....the TASTE.........






A kampung durian taste like those normal durians we buy from those durians vendors around town. A Sua Lulian taste is very much like.....errr, how to say~??? Errr....like .'Honey+Cempedak+Wriggleys Chewing Gum+Durians'.........hahahahahaaa..............

Don't believe~??? You better believe it coz that's how a 'Sua Lulian' taste like. Beside the 'Honey+Cempedak+Wriggleys Chewing Gum+Durians' taste, it also emits a super strong gassy aftertaste which make our mouth linger with the smell and fragrant, even after 1 hour after you eat it.....





...and that is how a Sua Lulian taste like. In cantonese, some would call this Sua Lulian as 'Chi Ma Lau Lin' or 'Sesame Durian'. Too bad it's SOOOOO rare nowadays and you'll be considered lucky if you can find some during a durian season. Indeed deforestation, developement, industrialization ect ect wipe out most of our remaining Sua Lulian trees and it'll be harder to find in the future, sad....
Anyway, this year i managed to find some. I found it at a local street market at Kampar, Perak. I bought them at Rm10.00 for 7 durians(that's all he has) from a orang asli, YES, RM10.00 for 7 durians.......hahahahahaaa...........

Heyy mamak, when wanna bring us for a joy ride on yr new car. Maybe we can go eat lulian or Papaya with yr new car maa.......hahahaaa.............
