haha, finally got my Canon 500D, but body only with EF50, 1.8 II.

Thinking to go for next lens, what you guy suggest ?

50mm f1.8 is a nice len for bokeh


18-200mm IS if you plan not to change too much lens.
or 55 - 250mm IS telephoto lens for lanscape, wildlife ...

Normally those lens with lower F value are expensive..

thanks for your advise, i think what i am looking for is those more light weight lens, so assume that 18-200mm should be lighter than 55-250mm

heard about sigma 18-200mm OS with cost SG$680 and 18-200mm without OS at S$580

not sure will the OS make much diff ?

btw, my friend given me one sigma len (70-300mm, F4.0) but when hook it with my 500D, it show the contact with the lens is "not connected, pls clean your len" infact, what is the actual meaning for this msg ?

both 18-200 and 55-250 more or less the same weight and size.
OS or IS or VR..yeah. but u can compensate with steady hand n tripod.
the sigma lens might be faulty already.better send to the sigma service centre to get it looked at.hopefully just need to clean it up

with the 550d coming out soon, the pricing for a new 450d and 500d is going to drop significantly. grabs one of those quick (especially 450d before out of production).
