About road signs
I wanted to point out that how bias our govt is.

In this case in Penang. Few days ago, Gerakan members put up six road signs in Chinese.

However, Tanjung Umno Youth division chief Shaharrudin Hassan urged the local go~ment and go~ment agencies to only allow road signs in the national language. “If the Malays can compromise with not having road signs in Jawi or Arabic, we do not see why the other races cannot practise a similar thing,” he said.

Who says we don't have road signs in Jawi?? I agreed and accepted that Bahasa Malaysia is our national language. This is another issue. If they keep on saying that no other language could be used on road signs other than Bahasa Malaysia, why there are road signs accompanied by Jawi in Klang and/or Shah Alam?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to insult anyone or everyone here by "playing" with the language issue. But this is the logic. Ask Tanjong Umno Youth to pay a visit to Klang and/or Shah Alam and see himself whether I'm telling the truth.

Today's (25/07/2008) The Star newspaper, I came across this news -
Chinese street signs removed by local council. This is the partial of the news:

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) brought down six Chinese street signs that were erected by Gerakan members on Monday.

MPPP president Datuk Zainal Rahim Seman said the signboards were taken down on Wednesday night after a letter was sent to the state Gerakan headquarters instructing them to remove the signs.

“The signs were put up without permission and we removed them after Gerakan members failed to do so,” he said when contacted yesterday.

If, let's say, there's a situation where UMNO, PAS or any other parties were to put up road signs in Jawi, do you think the local council will remove that signs? My answers is - maybe yes, maybe no.

You'll be the judge today.

RE: About road signs
Some of us voted them into the administration, thus we certainly cannot blame our own choice, right?

RE: About road signs
Sometimes these politicians just do not what they are talking about... whether they are from DAP, Gerakan, Umno or Pas

Road signs should be as simple as posibble to make it readable and safer... Drivers need to be alert all the time and only have split seconds to make decisions when changing lanes or make turns...

Imagine if you are driving along the town searching for specific roads and lanes, and you have to scramble your eyes on the road signs written in Bahasa Malaysia, Jawi, Chinese and Tamil.... How easy for you to read the road signs like that? How long can you make decision that you are about to turn into the correct lane?

These is the most unrealistic idea I heard from politicians...(first from DAP, then Gerakan and now Umno and Pas) Don't they have any other important matters to politicise other than this trivial matter?

Get down to work you all, and yes that refer to both BN and PR!! G-throw-stone-01

RE: About road signs
Biasalar... Gerakan lose already... then wants to politise things that they didn't do when they are in power.

But it's getting absurd that they should start working for the rakyat. Who can work and who can't work... we can see it with our own eye.
